Spirit and Soul: a riot of uplifting pattern and glorious colour from Scion

For 2014, British brand S cion has pulled out all the stops, producing two very diverse, trend-inspired collections of printed fabrics, complemented by funky statement wallpapers and contemporary weaves.

Spirit is a collection of modern tribal designs with an organic, natural feel in a palette of rich earthy tones interspersed with rustic brights. Its global inspirations are wide-ranging, encompassing a new take on South American ikats, hand-drawn African stripes and subtle Japanese motifs: a fusion of traditional crafts with a contemporary twist and timeless appeal.

Ada: horizontal bands of embroidered pattern, combined to form a striking ‘allover’ effect
Amala: ikat-inspired, painterly diamond motifs, set against a natural, undyed ground
Kali: a highly versatile, small-scale, tie-dye, ‘spot’ motif
Medini: subtle blends of irregular bands of colour combine to create an abstract vertical stripe
Shibori: a rectangular grid of blurred lines created using an ancient Japanese dye-resist technique on a natural, undyed ground
Sohni:large-scale concentric circles in a traditional tie-dye style
Yoki: cleverly interlinked, semicircular shapes, which form a sinuous ‘wave-like’ stripe

Soul is a collection of fashionable, ultra-modern prints that pays homage to the glamorous graphic motifs and vibrant kaleidoscopic colours of the 1970s. Soul encompasses a versatile selection of oversized abstract designs, bold stripes and bright geometrics. Each upbeat design can be used individually or mixed together to create a striking clash of colours and shapes to dramatic effect.

Chic: randomly juxtaposed circle and half moon shapes, cleverly coloured to create a block stripe effect
Dash: embroidered daubs in horizontal rows on neutral grounds
Diva: fabulously bold and oversized, a flamboyant, stylised floral
Groove: a dramatic narrow-striped chevron design
Pucci:a kaleidoscopic Op-art combination of colours and random overlapping shapes – ‘70s personified!
Zing: a painterly, undulating vertical stripe
Zsa Zsa: casually interlinked loops forming a funky, allover design

Rhythm Weaves is a range of contemporary geometrics and vibrant stripes suitable for drapery, in a fashion-driven palette including sleek monochromes, kinetic brights and on-trend nudes. These are accompanied by the more understated Spirit Weaves, a highly versatile range of chenille upholstery weaves with an organic feel, inspired by mark-making and textural reliefs. They have a fresh and youthful appeal and a palette ranging from soft vintage to hard-edged urban.

To accompany the new fabric collection, Spirit & Soul Wallpapers is a show-stopping collection of statement wallpapers. As well as interpretations of a number of the fabric designs, it also incorporates the ever-popular Mr Fox in wide range of colours and two different scales.

Spirit and Soul will be launched in late Spring 2014 and will be available via a network of stockists both nationally and internationally.
