Safeguard your home from potential burglars with the latest in home security

Anthony Neary, Managing Director at safe.co.uk, advises on the best placement for security cameras.

The best place to install security cameras is at least 9ft above ground level to ensure a burglar can’t simply smash the cameras and go about their intended intrusion. Cameras should also be placed to monitor areas which are most under threat. When a burglar breaks into a home, they usually target the front or back doors so cameras should be pointed on these areas.

A camera acts as a visual deterrent to (hopefully) put a burglar off breaking into your property. CCTV is ideal for catching somebody in the act, but preventing them from trying in the first place is the best home security strategy.

Having security cameras installed means you are less likely to be targeted and you can feel safe knowing that your home and possessions are secure. Should the worst happen and you unfortunately fall victim to burglary, you should have enough evidence gathered on CCTV to help legal authorities track down the thief, and a higher chance of reclaiming any stolen items.

Safe and secure

A recent report by Nest revealed that over three quarters of British homeowners think their homes are secure, despite more than half admitting to being the victim of burglary.

The report also found that nearly a third of break-ins reported now target outdoor buildings and sheds. This points to the need for 360° security that protects the home from the outside in. With Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor, you can check in – even when you’re out.

Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor both show you the full picture in crisp 1080p HD and 130° views. When it’s dark, night vision illuminates the whole scene, letting you watch the action live 24/7 from your phone or tablet. And if you see something that requires your attention, a built-in speaker and microphone will let you talk back to get their attention.

But you can’t always be watching, and so great security isn’t just about having the clearest lens or brightest night vision, it’s about helping you identify the moments that are important to you quickly and easily.

With Nest Aware, you get 24/7 continuous cloud recording, clip sharing and more intelligent alerts. With personal alerts, you get a specific alert if Nest Cam Indoor or Nest Cam Outdoor sees a person, not just a motion or sound alert, so you know if it’s important, while activity zones help highlight important areas you want to receive special alerts about in your home.

Nest Cams integrate seamlessly with the wider range of Nest devices, as well as other branded products, to help keep your home safe and secure. For example, it can tell your Philips Hue light bulbs to imitate occupancy when Nest knows you’re away.

Keyless entry solutions

Keyless entry solutions boast many benefits for homeowners. There is no longer any need to leave a door key under a mat, to worry about missing keys and the expense of replacing them or to spend time trying to find keys when you’ve got your hands full. What’s more, you can send ‘mobile keys’ to family and friends, granting access permanently for a few weeks or even hours. This controlled technology solution is proving popular amongst homeowners within the UK. Keyless entry solutions are making their way onto the marketplace with companies, such as Anglian Home Improvements, responding to the requirements of an increasingly tech-savvy customer base.

Tapping into the connected home, Anglian Home Improvements’ Conexis L1 Smart Door Lock, a highly secure Bluetooth technology solution from Yale’s revolutionary Smart Living Range, is just one of the keyless entry solutions available on today’s UK marketplace.
